Jamie Theakston has become a father for the first time after his new wife gave birth to a baby boy.

The radio DJ and TV presenter's wife Sophie gave birth at around 8pm last night at St Mary's hospital in Paddington.

She and Theakston, 37, have decided to call their son, who weighed in at 8lb 6oz, Sidney.

The presenter initially revealed the pregnancy during his radio show on Heart FM while he talked about their star-studded wedding last September.

"I can tell you there was a very special guest there but I can't tell you his name because he hasn't got one," he said.

"I can't even tell you if it was a boy or a girl because myself and my new bride won't find out until April."

Theakston first met wife Sophie Siegle, 34, at the Oscars two years ago and proposed to her while on holiday in Paris last April.

She used to present Top of the Pops and is now manager of the private members' club Soho House.

He will find out whether he is the Music Radio Personality of the Year at an awards ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on May 12.
