Janey Godley reveals she’s been crying on chemo ward at Christmas

The comedian was flooded with well-wishes as she shared heartbreaking news on Twitter

Janey Godley has revealed that she underwent treatment for cancer in the run up to Christmas.

The Scottish comedian has battled ovarian cancer for the past year, with the disease returning after she got the all-clear in June.

The 61-year-old tweeted to her 280,000 followers: "Someone is playing “White Christmas” on the chemo ward and now I am sitting here crying.

Godly continued: "Of all the places I thought I would be at this time of year, this isn’t one of them.

"Facing my life shortened by ovarian cancer and having all these nostalgic memories of Christmas past.’

The stand-up, who is still planning to go on her Not Dead Yet UK tour next February and March added: "Sending love to everyone facing devastating health conditions."

Messages of support from followers soon flooded her comment section, including from fellow stand-up Rory Bremner added: "Sending you love & strength. You’re amazing Janey."

The celebrated comedian’s spirits were seemingly lifted by the messages, retweeting several.

She later shared a snap of herself from the hospital in a mask and posing beside a Christmas tree, writing: "Chemo done I am off home for Christmas."

Godly, received her diagnosis of stage three ovarian cancer in November 2021 and has since undergone chemotherapy treatment and a full hysterectomy.

She shared the news of the cancer returning earlier this month, adding: "I want you all to know that I’ll be going through some more chemotherapy.

“I also want you to know that I’m going ahead with the tour in February and March. I am determined to get back on stage..."
