A teetering Kara Tointon and a gurning Rita Simons can mean only one thing - the soap stars are in town.

The rowdy bunch swept into London last night for the Inside Soap Awards, and it was the typical annual carnage we've grown used to seeing.

Kara, 25, who plays Dawn in EastEnders, was sporting a dramatic new hairstyle.

But it's not a permanent change - merely a wig from her collection.


Rita Simons blows a kiss - or perhaps she trying to win a gurning competition - while Louisa Lytton munches on a snack

She said: "I have about seven wigs at home. I really hate my real hair and so this is great for a bit of a change."

Kara must have had a good night as she had to be helped into a cab after the bash.

Others enjoying the free food and booze at Gilgamesh in Camden were Leah Hackett and Jennifer Metcalfe, Michael Le Vell, Louisa Lytton and Gemma Merna - who stopped traffic in her low-cut red dress.
