Kate Garraway has revealed on Sunday that husband Derek Draper is home from hospital.

The Good Morning Britain presenter shared the news on Instagram where she posted photos of her, Draper, 55, and their children Darcey, 17, and Billy, 13, enjoying a spot of gardening.

In one photo, the 55-year-old was seen smiling alongside her husband while their kids and extended family members posed behind, while another image saw Garraway planting a tree in her front garden.

Captioning the post, she wrote: “Funny how it was just grandad and I for the digging and planting, and then suddenly everyone appears when up!!

“Crowning a very special weekend with the Drapers (Aunty Sue and grandma, you are here in spirit) by planting a magnolia tree for Earth Day. Happy Sunday everyone.”

Fans were delighted by the news and shared their well wishes to the pair in the comments section.

Her GMB colleague Susanna Reid commented: “Everything about these [photos] is gorgeous”.

A second shared: “How absolutely wonderful to see a pic of Derek, and looking so well too. Has made my weekend this post”.

“Derek looks well,” another follower penned.

Kate Garraway: Caring for Derek

Her post comes after she revealed last week that Draperwas once again receiving care in hospital as she detailed his tearful meeting with music icon Elton John.

The broadcaster said she, Draper and their kids were left in tears when John dedicated his hit, Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me, to them during a recent gig at London’s O2 arena.

They family had travelled from their North London home to the South East London music venue for the singer’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.

It was quite a feat for Draper, who is thought to be the UK’s worst-affected Covid survivor after contracting it in 2020, and has since experienced ongoing health issues.

While discussing the moment on Thursday’s GMB, Garraway revealed that Draper was back in hospital, but didn’t clarify the reason why, instead focusing on how much their outing reminded her of the support and love they’ve received in recent years.

She shared: “There’s a lot of things in life that I’ve looked at Derek, and he’s been back in hospital this week, and I’ve thought, ‘You’ve had such an incredible amount of bad luck’, but it’s a reminder of what incredible luck he’s had in terms of love.”
