Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton broke up with former Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger after putting his foot down over starting a family, it was claimed today.

They parted last week, blaming heavy workloads.

But a friend of Scherzinger, 33, said: "She wanted more than he could offer at this stage in his life."
