Natasha Kaplinsky may be counting down to baby, but she still has a few rather important engagements to attend to first.

The Five newsreader took her bump off to Downing Street today for a meeting with Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

Miss Kaplinsky, who earned the nickname 'Spangles'  after her sequin-clad turn in Strictly Come Dancing, kept her outfit subdued for the occasion.

She dressed in loose-fitting black pants and silk shirt, opting for a splash of colour with her red heels and handbag.

The 35-year-old, who is seven months pregnant, recently revealed she has struggled to adjust to her changing shape, telling the Mirror: 'I look like a hippo, it's terrible!'

Natasha became Britain's highest-paid newsreader when she left the BBC to join Five in a £1million-a-year deal and went on to boost viewer figures by 72 per cent.

Shortly afterwards she announced she was expecting a baby with banker husband Justin Bower, who she married two-and-a-half years ago, after they met on a blind date.
