Phillip Schofield has spoken out about Kerry Katona's controversial appearance on This Morning earlier this year.

Good morning: Phil with former presenting buddy Fern Britton

The troubled mum said she was "embarassed" by the interview and Phil has since said that she was in no fit state to be on the show.

But the presenter told Heat: "There's absolutely no problem with Kerry. Kerry is, and has always been, a mate of the programme.

"She has fallen out of love with us, but I think that her recollection of events from the last time she came on is very different to ours."

Out of love: Kerry has said she is ashamed of her appearance on the show

He added: "I've always said that I wish Kerry nothing but the absolute best and I hope she's surrounded by people who genuinely have her best interests at heart. She got a better and more sensitive approach here than she would have done anywhere else.

"If she'd gone on another show and acted like that, it would have been a different story. It's one of those things that happened and I bear her no ill will whatsoever."
