Robbie Williams teases upcoming Netflix documentary will be ‘full of sex and drugs and mental illness’

Robbie Williams teased that his upcoming Netflix documentary will be full of “sex, drugs and mental illness.”

The Let Me Entertain You hitmaker explained that while he has editorial control over the finished product, there will no limits to the topics discussed when it starts filming later this year.

Speaking on New Zealand’s Newstalk ZB’s The Mike Hosking Breakfast show, the 48-year-old shared: “It’ll be full of sex and drugs and mental illness.

“They haven’t started. I’m sure it will be warts-and-all, and I’m sure it will be me giving away too much information about my life and times.

“I’m looking forward to getting it started and finding out what it is myself,” he continued.

“No rules. I’m more likely than most people to leave everything in, I very rarely, if ever, have said, ‘That’s too much, take it off.’ I normally think that it’s not enough.”

Williams joked that even though he has “editorial control” the documentary makers are “very, very lucky” as he’s happy to expose the skeletons in his past.

The Angels singer added: “Most people want to do some sanitised version of themselves because they’re scared of giving too much of their real life away.

“The audience can see that, and I don’t respond very well as an audience member to that, so I won’t be doing that.”

While the former Take That star said no topics are off the table, fans shouldn’t expect his children he with wife Ayda Field, 43, to feature in it.

Williams, who is dad to Teddy, nine, Charlton, seven, Coco, three, and two-year-old Beau, admitted: “I don’t think the kids will be involved.

“There will be me giving away too much information about the inner workings of my mind.”

The documentary series charting the highs and lows of Williams’ career was first announced during the Edinburgh TV Festival in August.

At the time, Netflix teased a video clip from the series showing the Rock DJ hitmarker lying naked on a sofa as he describes his singing voice as a “gift from God”.

Directed by Joe Pearlman, who was behind the Bros documentary After The Screaming Stops, the rockumentary will feature 25 years’ worth of never-before-seen archive and intimate footage of Williams.

Asif Kapadia, best known for his documentary films about Amy Winehouse, Ayrton Senna and Diego Maradona, will executive produce alongside Dominic Crossley-Holland.
