Now nearing the end of a UK tour, and picking up forlorn Busted fans like dogcatchers in vintage T-shirts, Rooster have already slagged off the music of the band whose teeny audience they share, and are at such pains to prove the authenticity of their Free/Bad Company type of rawk that carefully-styled singer Nick Atkinson may soon start claiming that Keith Richards is his dad.

This is the band who only recently performed at arena roadshows such as Christmas in Popworld and the Girl Guides Big Gig alongside such grizzled rockers as Rachel Stevens, Phixx and Westlife. At the Popworld show, they grew petulant when asked to play a Christmas song. If they were anything like their heroes Led Zeppelin, they wouldn't have found themselves in such a situation in the first place - nor did Zeppelin have almost as many outside co-writers on their songs as Girls Aloud.

But this playgroup Bon Jovi are at last doing proper rock in proper venues. Judging by the sales success of last month's debut album, they'll be headlining at Wembley, clear of any boy-band taint, before the year is out.
