Trinny Woodall has opened up about her split from art collector Charles Saatchi for the first time, admitting she felt “on her own” in the relationship.

The former couple were together for a decade and now the beauty entrepreneur has said that it feels “very good, actually” to be single again.

The 59-year-old shared: “I have been in a relationship for ten years, and whatever people choose to believe or read, I know I have been in love with the person I was in a relationship with, and I had good years in that relationship.

“But I also know that I got to a stage where I knew I was not happy in it. And that’s a very tough thing. Because a relationship becomes familiar.”

Speaking to Elizabeth Day as Woodhall promoted her new book, Fearless, at the Barbican in London, she added: “Oddly, I never thought, ‘I’m scared to be on my own’. That’s something that didn’t occur to me at all.

“It was more, ‘Do I feel quite on my own in the relationship?’ And I did. I got to a stage where I felt on my own. So then in the end it was about, ‘OK, I have the power to do what I want to do.’

“So I just then thought, ‘OK, I’m going to move on’. And it was difficult, because any change is difficult.”

Woodhall sparked speculation in March that she had split from her long-term partner, 70, when she revealed on social media that she had “moved house”.

At the time, the Trinny London mogul posted an Instagram live of her workout with personal trainer Nathalie Hayward and hinted at a “big life change”.

In the near hour-long video, she shared: “I have looked out at this view for the last 30 years of my life. It’s the one consistent view I have ever had.

“Recently with the big life change and moving house it was important for me to come back here with [daughter] Lyla and family just to have that moment, listen to the birds, be at one with nature. Very healing.”

Captioning the upload, she also tellingly penned: “It’s a new day, it’s a new dawn, it’s a new life… I’m so happy to be with Nat[halie] in this new setup so that we can do everything to feel healthy and well.

“Look after your body and it will look after you.”

Woodall began dating Saatchi in 2013 following his split from Nigella Lawson.
