Agar charged over Child outburst

12 April 2012

Hull head coach Richard Agar has been charged by the Rugby Football League with breaching the game's Respect policy after criticising a referee.

Agar claimed match official James Child was "100%" the reason why his side lost 20-18 at home to Castleford in last Friday's Engage Super League match at the KC Stadium.

"It's just been a good game and a good spectacle completely ruined by one bloke," Agar told the post-match press conference. "He won't be under pressure will he? He'll be backing up in Super League next week and we'll get a sheet round telling us all his decisions have been the right ones, I guarantee you that."

The RFL obtained a transcript of the press conference and have now charged Agar with breaching the sport's operational rules and a breach of their Respect policy.

A statement said: "The charges will be considered by an RFL operational rules tribunal which is likely to convene later this month."

Hull lodged an official complaint over the performance of Child with the RFL this week.

Two years ago Hull KR coach Justin Morgan was fined £4,000, half of it suspended, for his scathing criticism of referee Ben Thaler.
