Anderson: Final glory top target

12 April 2012

St Helens coach Daniel Anderson believes a Grand Final victory would mean even more to his players than their Challenge Cup success at Twickenham.

Saints secured cup glory with victory over Huddersfield and can now add to it with success in the Old Trafford showpiece against Hull this evening, and Anderson insists this match is probably an even greater prospect than the cup final.

"If you were to ask the players in a secret ballot, this is the one they would crave because it's about your qualities through the course of the year," he said.

"You play 28 rounds, then you go through a play-off series.

"We started training 11 months and one week ago - it's an awfully long time to be in a combative, confrontational sport - so to come away with the prize would be richly earned.

"I think it's a fair reflection of the season that the two most consistent teams are in the final and I don't think there's going to be much difference in the final."
