Andy Murray gets his revenge to reach Cincinnati Masters quarter-finals

Revenge tastes sweet: Murray reaches quarter-finals at Cincinnati Masters
13 April 2012

Andy Murray made amends for one of his worst performances of the year as he beat Alex Bogomolov Jr 62, 7-5 to reach the quarter-finals of the Cincinnati Masters.

The Briton suffered a shock defeat to the world No50 from America in March but secured victory yesterday in one hour and 41 minutes.

Murray said: "I was struggling a lot in Miami and didn't play well at all. So I am glad to come through in two sets and forget about our last match."

Today Murray faces Frenchman Gilles Simon, who beat fifth-seed David Ferrer, of Spain, 64, 6-7, 6-4.

Rafael Nadal needed three hours and 38 minutes to beat fellow Spaniard Fernando Verdasco 7-6, 6-7, 7-6. Verdasco said. "I enjoy a good match but it's not easy to lose this way."
