Anelka heads for exit

Bolton are becoming increasingly resigned to losing Nicolas Anelka as the striker prepares to choose between Portsmouth and West Ham.

Anelka was offered to Manchester United last week but they turned down the opportunity to sign a player who only joined Bolton a year ago in an £8m deal from Fenerbahce.

West Ham are closing in on Fenerbahce midfielder Stephen Appiah while Reading have agreed a fee with Sheffield Wednesday for defender Sam Sodje.
