Arsenal's key players

14 April 2012

Thierry Henry is, by an overwhelming margin, the player of the season, with his devastating pace, selfless workrate and accomplished finishing producing 29 goals and many assists.

However, there have been at least five other key players who have helped inspire Arsenal to the title triumph:

PATRICK VIEIRA
Has grown in stature as Arsenal's captain this season, but his performances have been consistently superb for several years. He is the driving force behind the side.

ROBERT PIRES
Has now recaptured the sparkling form which secured the player of the year award two seasons ago, with 14 league goals from midfield. Some question his 'diving', but never his ability.

SOL CAMPBELL
The cornerstone of Arsenal's defence, who have now banished the frailties which bedevilled them last season. Sven-Goran Eriksson can only hope he is fit for the Euro 2004 finals.

KOLO TOURE
The surprise find of the entire Barclaycard Premiership season, Toure, 23, who was an under-used utility player last year, has emerged as a central defender of immense promise.

EDU
After taking a few years to find his feet in the Premiership, Edu has given added impetus to the Arsenal midfield in the second half of the season. He has achieved above all expectations.
