Bellamy a doubt for Mallorca clash

14 April 2012

Craig Bellamy is not expected to start for Newcastle in Mallorca tonight following his bust-up with assistant coach John Carver.

The striker travelled with the club for the fourth round, second leg UEFA Cup tie against Real Mallorca but has a hamstring injury and is likely to be on the bench.

Chairman Freddie Shepherd was keen to dismiss Tuesday's altercation at Newcastle airport involving Bellamy and Carver as "a storm in a tea cup" and insisted neither of them would be fined.

Sir Bobby Robson refused to discuss the matter. The manager said: "It is closed and dealt with and we do not have a problem. I will see how Craig is tonight."

Newcastle will be confident of a place in the quarter-finals after beating Real Mallorca 4-1 in the first leg at home.
