13 April 2012

Stuart Bingham missed a golden chance to make only the fifth maximum 147 break in the televised stages of the Embassy World Championship at the Crucible in Sheffield.

The world No 44 failed on the penultimate ball in a break of 134 as he closed in on the prize of £147,000 for the coveted feat.

Bingham, from Essex, holds a 5-4 lead over former world champion Ken Doherty going into today's resumed first-round match.
