Bristol beat Bath to go back on top

12 April 2012

Bristol went back to the top of the Guinness Premiership table as they scored the only tries of this west country derby to secure a 16-6 win and complete a season's treble over Bath.

The visitors opened the scoring after 13 minutes when Olly Barkley slotted the ball between the uprights but Bath's lead was shortlived as Bristol skipper Gareth Llewellyn was driven over the line in the 32nd minute.

The home side went in to the break 8-6 ahead after David Hill and Barkley exchanged penalties and with 10 minutes remaining victory was secured when Hill chipped across field and Lee Robinson out-jumped full-back Michael Stephenson for the ball to dive over the line.
