Captain Stuart Broad has backed the new faces in England's Twenty20 squad to shine when they meet India in a one-off match at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

England have included uncapped trio Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes and Alex Hales in their 13-man squad after all have impressed in the recently-concluded domestic Friends Life t20.

"We don't play a lot of international Twenty20. For me I haven't been able to play in the domestic Twenty20 this year either," said Broad. "So it is good to be able to call on these players."

"I know it is a huge test for any player to come up from county cricket into international cricket.

"That's why we have the Lions system to put guys under international pressure.

"You see guys have that confidence in T20 cricket and come to international games and do really well.

"We're certainly not picking players blindly. We're excited for tomorrow."

With the likes of Ian Bell and Jonathan Trott missing out there have been a few eyebrows raised about selection just 12 months out from England's World Twenty20 title defence.
