Brown confirmed as Hull boss

12 April 2012

Hull have appointed Phil Brown as their manager until the end of the season after he impressed during his spell as caretaker boss at the KC Stadium.

Brown was assistant to Phil Parkinson until the former Colchester boss was sacked by Hull in early December. A club statement revealed Brown's position will be reviewed at the end of the season.

It added: "The club is confident that this coaching structure under the management of Phil will continue to serve Hull City well and achieve the key objective of Championship survival this season."

Brown took over as caretaker boss and the Tigers have subsequently since recorded victories over Cardiff, Burnley and Sheffield Wednesday prompting Hull chairman Adam Pearson to give him the job until the end of the season - with Colin Murphy remaining as his assistant.

Iain Dowie and Gary Megson were both linked with the job but chairman Adam Pearson said on Wednesday he felt Brown had done enough during his temporary spell to take control.

"Phil has done very well in his time," Pearson told the Hull Daily Mail. "There's no doubt about that. He's handled himself in a very professional manner.

"He's certainly got the hunger and the attitude for it. It's clear that Phil's been making a real difference out on the training ground and across into games."
