Chelsea will complete the signing of 18-year-old Serbian midfielder Danilo Pantic before the end of the January window, at least that’s if the player himself is to be believed.

Pantic, who currently plays his football for Partizan Belgrade, is expected cost Chelsea just £670,000 as he has yet to sign a professional contract.

The player told Novosti: "In the situation we are now in, going to Chelsea would be the best solution for me and for Partizan.”

“I am not sure when I will be back in Belgrade, I believe in next day or two, and a transfer should be done this week."

The 18-year-old has made 13 appearances for Belgrade this season, including five in the Europa League, becoming one of the most prized young prospects in Europe.

Should he sign for the Blues he would likely move on loan to Vitesse Arnhem immediately. Vitesse have taken a number of Chelsea’s young prospects on loan, with the likes of Josh McEachran, Luca Piazon and Christian Atsu spending time in the Netherlands.

The signing of Pantic would be Chelsea’s first of the January transfer window, though they maintain interest in Douglas Costa and Juan Cuadrado. Should either man sign Mohamed Salah or Andre Schurrle may make way.
