Cipriani set to rejoin England

12 April 2012

Danny Cipriani will report for England duty on Monday with World Cup winner Lawrence Dallaglio underlining the Wasps youngster's "dedication" to rugby.

The 20-year-old was axed from England's Calcutta Cup team for the defeat against Scotland after being pictured leaving a London night-spot after midnight last Thursday morning.

Cipriani made a 20-minute substitute's appearance as Wasps beat Harlequins 29-25 on Sunday and club captain Dallaglio said: "Danny is very serious about his rugby. That's why he pays for his own fitness coach, sprint coach and kicking coach. That shows the dedication he has got."

He added: "We have no issues with Danny, and we can move on from that story and so can Danny.

"England need all their best players at the moment - clearly."

Wasps rugby director Ian McGeechan praised Cipriani's approach over the difficult past few days, adding: "He has actually handled it very well.

"He wanted to just show that when he has his rugby kit on he has got a lot to offer.

"There are ways of dealing with things, and we feel it could probably have been dealt with more sensitively.

"To take effectively his first cap away is a big call.

"We are not condoning anything, but we think it could have been handled differently."
