Clive Brittain eyes Breeders' Cup bid for Misheer

American dream: Misheer

Trainer Clive Brittain is hoping that Misheer can win Sunday's Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh and book a trip to the Breeders' Cup.

The Saeed Manana-owned filly has won three of her four starts, most recently when storming clear of Royal Ascot winner Habaayib to take the six-furlong Group 2 Cherry Hinton Stakes at Newmarket last month.

Misheer's only defeat came on her penultimate run when second to Jealous Again over five furlongs in the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Brittain said: "The plan is that we go for the Moyglare Stud Stakes with Misheer. She was impressive at Newmarket and I was very pleased.

"I thought she had improved on her Ascot run and, looking at the distances by which she had beaten the other fillies that ran in the Queen Mary and then re-opposed at Newmarket, I was probably right to think that."

Should Misheer land Sunday's seven-furlong event, she is guaranteed a place in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Santa Anita on 6 November.

But the veteran Newmarket handler is looking closer to home in the meantime. He said: "Once we get the Moyglare over with I would be looking at the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket on 2 October. Her options are open after that, it's up to the owner if he wants her to go to the Breeders' Cup."

Meanwhile, Richard Hannon is keen to put Canford Cliffs's disappointing Prix Morny defeat by Arcano down to the fast ground at Deauville after a scope revealed nothing abnormal.

He said: "I am convinced he was feeling the firm ground on Sunday, so I am inclined to write off the performance.

"We will talk to the owners about his next race, but while the Dewhurst [17 October] remains very much an option there is also the Middle Park Stakes [2 October]."
