Coleman: Sacking was devastating

12 April 2012

Chris Coleman has admitted he was devastated by his sacking by Fulham, but bears the club no ill will and is determined to return to top-level management.

The Welshman had been at the club for a decade as a player, coach and manager, but his tenure came to an end earlier this month following a poor run.

Coleman admits his departure came as a bolt from the blue, telling Sky Sports: "I am devastated to be honest. I had been at the club 10 years and I never really saw it coming, but they have got their decisions to make and their reasons and I am devastated."

He added: "Being somewhere for 10 years I know a lot of people at Fulham and I would be devastated if they went out of the league.

"I don't want to see them go out, I know the players in the dressing room and they are strong guys and that is what will see them through."

Coleman is set to take some time out before making a return to management.

"I will spend a little bit more time with my four children, I will spend some quality time with them," he added.

"I will enjoy a little break to make sure that when I do come back the batteries are recharged."
