Collymore holding talks in Spain

13 April 2012

Bradford City striker Stan Collymore is expected to complete his transfer to Spanish Primera Liga side Real Oviedo later today.

The striker arrived in Madrid yesterday evening and was scheduled to hold talks with Oviedo's director general Felix Ortega. Collymore is expected to sign a contract tying him to the club until the end of next season.

He could make his debut against Las Palmas next Sunday if all goes to plan.

Miguel Solis, Oviedo's spokesman, told PA Sport: "When Collymore arrives from Madrid he will need to pass a medical examination later on today before the contract can be signed and the deal finalised."

Bradford's chairman Geoffrey Richmond has agreed to let the controversial 30-year-old frontman go for nothing in a bid to reduce the Premiership side's wage bill.

Richmond told the Bradford Telegraph & Argus: "Stan spoke to Oviedo last week and over the weekend the clubs spoke for the first time.

"I would anticipate that unless there's a hitch then the transfer will be completed before their deadline on Wednesday."
