Corry targets speedy recovery

14 April 2012

Martin Corry today revealed his determination to bounce back from an injury that will keep him out of England's RBS 6 Nations Championship opener.

The Leicester number eight suffered a dislocated right elbow during Tigers' Zurich Premiership victory over Gloucester three days ago.

And, with a six-week absence predicted by Leicester medical staff, Corry has no realistic chance of featuring when England tackle Wales in Cardiff on February 5. He could also miss the Twickenham appointment with France eight days later.

"They say I will be out for six to eight weeks. I've got to see if I can keep it down to six weeks," 33 times-capped Corry told www.leicestertigers.com.

"I am going to do my best to knock a few days off, but a certain amount of muscles don't heal quickly enough, so I can't change that, but there are a lot of little things I can do around it, and that's the challenge I face.

"The easiest thing for me to do now is just to sit on my backside and do nothing.

"But I am determined not to let my hard work go to waste, so I need to do something. For me, the best way of getting rid of frustrations is out there training, because at least you are doing something productive.

"I will just do a little bit for now, and then hopefully I can pick up the intensity as time goes on.

"I will be fresh when I return, so all my little niggles should be gone. There's no reason why I can't do it.

"I am limited to the work I can do at the moment, so I must make sure that whatever I do now, benefits me in the long-term."
