Adil Rashid and Liam Plunkett leave ODI squad

Moving on: Adil Rashid is joining up with the performance squad
10 April 2012

England have announced Test squad members Adil Rashid and Liam Plunkett were leaving the one-day international party to instead take part in a four-day England Performance Programme match.

Leg-spinner Rashid today lost his place in the ODI team to face South Africa at Newlands to off-spinner Graeme Swann, fit again after a side injury.

James Tredwell, meanwhile - brought into the ODI squad like Plunkett as cover for injury - will remain as a like-for-like understudy for Swann.

The match against Highveld Lions, which begins on Monday, may also feature Test opener Alastair Cook.

He stayed with the EPP in Pretoria rather than flying south with the ODI squad last week, after suffering a minor back injury.
