Brave Michael Clarke leads Aussies to victory

13 April 2012

Australia coach Mickey Arthur hailed Michael Clarke’s leadership after his bold declaration paved the way for his side’s three‑wicket win in the First Test against West Indies at the Kensington Oval.

Skipper Clarke declared with his team trailing by 43 runs, before they clinched a remarkable success, to take the lead in the three-Test series.

Arthur said: “When he suggested the declaration to me I thought it was a great idea and I sort of just backed him. It was a brave decision.”

Shane Watson’s 52 was key as the tourists chased a victory target of 192 in two sessions.
