England dismissed for woeful 67 in third Ashes Test as they post lowest score against Australia for 71 years

England posted their lowest Test score against Australia since 1948 as they were embarrassed by an unforgiving pace attack on day two of the third Ashes Test at Headingley.

Just one player made double figures - an entirely unconvincing 12 from Joe Denly - as the hosts were skittled for only 67 runs in 27.5 overs.

Despite being boosted by Jofra Archer's six-wicket heroics on a stop-start first day in West Yorkshire, England were quickly in trouble as Jason Roy fell for 9 and captain Joe Root recorded his second successive duck - both caught by David Warner at first slip.

Rory Burns (nine) and Ben Stokes (eight) were not far behind, while Denly somehow managed 12 before Jonny Bairstow's dismissal for four continued the miserable run.

Any hopes of an improvement in the afternoon session were instantly dashed as Chris Woakes fell with the first delivery after lunch and Jos Buttler followed in the next over. Both made just five.

Archer had a brief period of swinging the bat before getting out for seven while trying to duck a Pat Cummins bouncer and Jack Leach being bowled by Josh Hazlewood for 1 ended a truly dismal showing.

Hazlewood was the pick of the bowlers as he finished with figures of 5-30, while Cummins was 3-23 and James Pattinson 2-9.

As well as being their worst against Australia for 71 years, 67 was also England's lowest Test innings total at Headingley and their 12th lowest ever.
