Sheffield-based Ding Junhui breezed through to the second round of the Betfred.com World Championship on Monday morning.

Armed with an 8-1 overnight lead, 24-year-old Chinese cueman Ding converted that into a 10-2 victory over Scotland's Jamie Burnett.

Masters champion Ding has never gone beyond the second round at the Crucible but has a chance of improving on that record this year. His next opponent will be either Peter Ebdon or Stuart Bingham.

Ding had two centuries in the match and completed his success with a break of 71.

"It feels all right, I'm playing quite well," Ding said.

"I'm just concentrating on my game and trying to play my best."

Burnett said: "It was frustrating for me yesterday. Nothing seemed to happen."

Former semi-finalist Stephen Maguire found himself 4-0 down against Barry Hawkins but won three of the next five frames to get back to 6-3.
