Double trouble for England

12 April 2012

England stars Jonny Wilkinson and Mike Tindall could miss England's tour to South Africa after picking up injuries in the clash between Gloucester and Newcastle at Kingston Park.

Cherry and White Tindall was stretchered off with a suspected broken leg after a second-half collision with England centre Toby Flood, and Wilkinson went off with a rib injury after 55 minutes as his Falcons claimed a 19-12 Guinness Premiership triumph.

Tindall was taken for an X-ray and while Gloucester head coach Dean Ryan said: "We have no idea of how bad the injury is yet as he has been taken straight to hospital."

But Newcastle director of rugby John Fletcher said Tindall appeared to have broken his leg.

"There was clash of legs between Mike and Toby and it was fairly obvious from the crack that Mike had broken his leg," he said.

"Jonny has damaged rib cartilage - he did it last week and aggravated it again.

"He'll be out for a short period of time but we can't say how long until the doctors have had a look at it."
