Ebdon through to final

13 April 2012

Peter Ebdon continued his revival at Plymouth by powering into the final of the £440,000 British Open with a 6-2 victory over Alan McManus.

World number 12 Ebdon made breaks of 56, 76, 112 and 57 to come from 2-2 at the interval to storm through to the final for the second year in succession.

The display was in keeping with Ebdon's performance in beating Ronnie O'Sullivan 5-3 in a thrilling quarter-final on Friday.

"We both got off to a dodgy start but Keith Warren, my manager, gave me a good talking to during the break and got me focused," said Ebdon.

"I came back out completely zoned in and started to play like I did against Ronnie."

Ebdon spent 18 months on the sidelines with coach Chris Henry retuning his game and is now beginning to benefit from all the hours of hard work.

"It is classic cause and effect - you only reap what you sew like anything in life," he said.

"I owe Chris a lot because he has helped me to adjust my technique to these fast cloths. I am pleased to see all the hard work pay off."

McManus, the world number eight, had few complaints after being blitzed by Ebdon's one-man show.

He said: "Peter played some fantastic snooker and I didn't get much of a look after the interval. Every time I had half a chance he jumped on me. I felt all right at 2-2 but Peter raised his game to another level."
