England summon young Buck

Leicestershire bowler Nathan Buck has won a call-up to the England Lions squad after Steven Finn was retained by the senior side for the remainder of the Australia tour.

Finn will remain with England's one-day side for the remaining four one-day internationals in place of the injured Tim Bresnan, opening up a vacancy on the Lions' first-class assignment in the West Indies.

Buck, a 19-year-old right-arm seamer, will fill that for the touring side's warm-up matches and the first two competitive games against the Leeward Islands and Barbados, after which he will be replaced by Chris Woakes.

Buck enjoyed a promising season with the Foxes last year and was sent on a strength and conditioning regime at the ECB's National Performance Centre in Loughborough following a spell on their dedicated fast bowling programme.

ECB Performance Director David Parsons said: "Nathan had an excellent summer with Leicestershire last year taking 49 LV= County Championship wickets in his first full season in county cricket. The Lions tour will provide him with an excellent opportunity to further demonstrate his potential."
