England wrap up tourists' innings

England bowled out Bangladesh in an extended evening session to reclaim the initiative in the second npower Test at Old Trafford.

Graeme Swann claimed five wickets as England responded powerfully after another exhilarating century from Tamim Iqbal to leave Bangladesh facing the prospect of following on.

Tamim backed up his Lord's ton by smashing 108 from 114 balls as Bangladesh raced to 153 for one in reply to 419 but it was a different story by the close. Off-spinner Graeme Swann led the recovery, taking five for 76, while an inspired Ajmal Shahzad claimed his first three Test wickets as Bangladesh collapsed to 216 all out.

The final wicket brought about the close of play and England captain Andrew Strauss will now decide overnight whether to make Bangladesh bat again.

Bangladesh's slump undid a lot of their good work from earlier in the day.

The visiting captain Shakib Al Hasan had extracted good turn to claim five for 121 as England's final four first-innings wickets fell for 20 runs.

Ian Bell completed a serene 11th Test century, compiling 128 before being beaten by a viciously turning delivery from Shakib.

Matt Prior should have followed him to three figures but fell seven runs short when he lobbed up a catch with a poor reverse sweep.
