Europe team out in strength in Cologne

Ten of the European side due to defend the Ryder Cup in Detroit next week will complete their tournament countdown by appearing in the Linde German Masters, starting tomorrow in Cologne.

Team captain Bernhard Langer and assistants Anders Forsbrand, Joakim Haeggman and Thomas Bjorn are also competing for the £340,000 first prize, along with Todd Hamilton, the Open champion American captain Hal Sutton decided to leave out of his line-up at Oakland Hills.

The only two members of Langer's team missing are Luke Donald and Sergio Garcia.
