There are not too many people in the game, apart from Everton fans of course, who have a bad word to say about Walter Smith but the Goodison hierarchy finally lost patience with the softly-spoken but rock-hard Scot earlier this week. His likely successor, David Moyes, comes highly recommended from his time at Preston and the Merseyside club's players will no doubt raise the game in an effort to impress the new regime. It all adds up to a tricky afternoon for Fulham, whose Premiership form has dipped recently.
