Ferocious Harmison hits back

Steve Harmison showed his old fire before the first Test against West Indies, starting at Lord's on Thursday, by bowling Durham to an unlikely 157-run victory over Kent at Chester-le-Street.

Harmison, now with 24 wickets in three Championship games to help erase memories of his miserable Ashes campaign, took five for 61 as Kent lost their last seven wickets for 38 runs.

His ruthlessness was also back on track as he wrapped up the win by forcing Robbie Joseph to retire hurt after clouting him on the helmet with a bouncer. Harmison shared the billing with England team-mate Liam Plunkett, whose eightwicket haul boosted his own chances of a Test call.

Mark Ramprakash struck 120 not out as Surrey claimed maximum batting points in a rain-ruined match against Warwickshire at The Oval. Ramprakash and Jonathan Batty (154 not out) shared a second wicket stand of 283 as Surrey reached 400 for one in their first innings.

Tom Lungley celebrated his first five-wicket haul as Derbyshire beat Leicestershire at Derby for the first time in 25 years in Division Two.
