England claimed five early wickets - including dangerman Brendon McCullum - to establish a stranglehold over the New Zealand batsmen in the third NatWest Series international at Bristol.

Stuart Broad and James Anderson claimed two wickets each to justify England skipper Paul Collingwood's decision to put the Kiwis into bat after winning the toss.

The Black Caps had progressed to 49 for five in the 21st over.
