Alvaro Morata is Chelsea's biggest points-earner in the Premier League

Alvaro Morata's contributions have won 16 points for Chelsea to keep them in the hunt for a top-four finish this season, a study has found.

The club-record signing ranks third as the Premier League top points-earners, behind Kevin De Bruyne's 20 for runaway leaders Manchester City and Harry Kane's 17 for Tottenham.

Morata's 10 goals and five assists have included eight winners, racking up 16 points to leave the reigning champions in fourth place. Morata is the only player in the top-10 points-earners in the Premier League.

Without the former Real Madrid striker's contribution, Chelsea would lie sixth and 15 points off the Champions League places and ranks as by far the Blues' most impactful player for points won.

Morata has faced criticism during his first season in English football but has struggled with injuries, most recently returning after almost a month due to a back complaint.

The 25-year-old hit the ground running at Chelsea, scoring eight goals in his first 11 league appearances, but managed to hit the back of the net just three times in 14 games across all competitions since November 18.

BetStars carried out statistical research across the Premier League, with Sergio Aguero and Romelu Lukaku completing the top five points-earners with 14 earned for City and Manchester United respectively.
