Following yesterday's news that Arsenal fans faced a struggle to get home from Manchester after their FA Cup quarter-final next month, Arsenal have teamed up with Virgin to provide a private train service for up to 450 football fans.

The fixture at Old Trafford was moved to 19:45 on Monday 9th March so it could be shown live on BBC One after the draw for the FA Cup semi-finals. With the last train from Manchester Piccadilly timetabled to for the capital at 21:15, some fans faced the prospect of having to miss most of the second half so that they could get home.

Following the news, Arsenal have arranged extra transport and helped cover some of the costs for the train that will cost supporters £30 for first class and £20 for standard class seats. Tickets will only be available for supporters who are able to prove they have tickets for the FA Cup fixture at Old Trafford. Extra coach travel has also been arranged, with a return trip costing £10 a head.

Arsenal’s supporter liaison officer Mark Brindle said: “We appreciate it is going to be difficult for supporters to get home to London from the game and so we have taken these steps to ensure fans can come and support the team and know they have a safe and relatively low cost journey home.”

Details on how to book travel will be on www.Arsenal.com from 10am on Friday 20th Feb.
