Arsenal legend Ian Wright has urged the club to reignite their interest in Houssem Aouar after a frustrating start to the season.

Aouar opted against leaving Lyon over the summer, prompting Mikel Arteta to stump up the cash to trigger Thomas Partey's release clause, but Wright wants Aouar in north London as well.

Reports in Italy over the weekend claim Arsenal remain interested in Aouar ahead of the January transfer window, though Juventus are considered favourites for his signature.

Sunday evening's home loss to Leicester City leaves Arsenal with just nine points from their first six games, having again struggled to test the opposition goalkeeper.

Wright feels the Gunners' squad is still not strong enough aand hopes to see the midfield target at the Emirates Stadium soon.

"They still need more, he's [Partey's] not the main one and that's why Arsenal went for Houssem Aouar as well," he told Premier League Productions.

"I'm hoping they can still get him at some stage but Partey is a massive improvement on what Arsenal have got."

Arsenal are next in action on Thursday as they host Dundalk in the Europa League.
