Arsenal are looking to strengthen their defence this summer and are one of a number of clubs interested in Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes.

The 22-year-old has impressed in Ligue 1 and several sides from around Europe, including Everton, Manchester United and Napoli, are now tracking him.

Arsenal are another who have expressed an interest in Gabriel and he is set to leave France this summer, with the Brazilian left out of the Lille squad who faced AZ Alkmaar in a friendly on Saturday.

The Gunners are in the market for a centre-back after Shkodran Mustafi injured his hamstring in last month’s FA Cup semi-final win over Manchester City. The German will not be back in training until October.

Fellow centre-backs Rob Holding and Sokratis also have uncertain futures too and the arrival of Gabriel, or another defender, would raise doubts about what happens to them this summer.
