Lille have approached Arsenal over the possibility of taking striker Yaya Sanogo on a season-long loan.

Sanogo has started just eight games for Arsenal since joining from Auxerre in 2013 and spent the second half of the latest campaign at Crystal Palace.

The 22-year-old ended the season having scored just one goal each for Arsenal and Palace and is most likely to be sent out on loan again.

Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud, Danny Welbeck and Theo Walcott are all ahead of him in the pecking as far as playing in the forward positions are concerned.

And Arsenal are considering buying another frontman as they look to lodge a genuine title challenge next term.

Lille are hoping to capitalise on the situation and will offer the France Under-21 international the chance of regular first team football.

Wenger may opt to wait to see how Sanogo fares in pre-season training though before making a decision on his future.
