Arsenal signing Willian has revealed how he reacted when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang finally put pen to paper on a new three-year deal this week.

Following months of negotiations, the 31-year-old agreed fresh terms worth £250,000-a-week as the Gunners concluded their most important piece of business this summer.

Aubameyang has scored 22 Premier League goals in each of his two full seasons with Arsenal and summer signing Willian has spoken about the significance of the deal.

He told Sky Sports: "My reaction was like this - 'yes!'"

"He's a top player, he's a player that can make the difference in every game."

Willian arrived from Chelsea on a free transfer, becoming Arteta's first summer signing amid interest from clubs across Europe.

He signed a three-year deal worth around £100,000-a-week last month and has revealed Arsenal's positive progress in talks with Aubameyang helped convince him to make the switch to Emirates Stadium.

Asked if the striker's future was tied to his decision, Willian said: "Of course. I was thinking about that as well, when I was in conversation with Arsenal to sign. I was thinking about Auba, because he was in the conversation with the club to sign.

"To play with him is a pleasure to me.
