Manchester City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo says that Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez has “a great future ahead of him” as the Citizens target the Chile forward.

After a summer-long pursuit City submitted their first offer on Tuesday, a package that valued Sanchez at £50million.

Though that was swiftly rejected by Arsenal it is unlikely to be the end of the matter, with Raheem Sterling a possible makeweight in a second bid.

Sanchez has cut a frustrated figure around Arsenal in recent months and was visibly frustrated throughout Sunday’s 4-0 loss at Liverpool, where he was substituted after an hour of ineffectual play.

Regardless of where Sanchez finds himself when the transfer window closes on Thursday night his compatriot will be well placed for success.

“It's good that we don't see Alexis Sanchez becoming frustrated about things, because he isn't going through a bad situation,” said the Chile captain. “Quite the opposite.

“He has a great future ahead of him, whether he remains at Arsenal or looks for new horizons. But everything is in a positive light.

“There's nothing negative. He doesn't have to be down, quite the opposite.”

Sanchez and Bravo are currently with the Chilean national team as they prepare for World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay and Bolivia.

It had been reported that Sanchez had been excused from the national team to sort out his future but Chilean FA president Arturo Salah yesterday said that that was not the case.
