Alexis Sanchez is to be monitored following his World Cup disappointment ahead of Arsenal's Premier League clash against Watford.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger told Standard Sport at Thursday’s press conference that he would be keeping a watchful eye on Sanchez after witnessing Brazil crush Chile's World Cup hopes with a 3-0 win in the final round of the South American qualifiers.
Wenger expressed his concerns for the striker as he waits for him to fly back to London late on Thursday.
He said: "I will have to speak to him. Yesterday afternoon I watched the Brazil vs Chile game to see how difficult it was.
"I must say he got some special treatment - it was a very physical game and mentally I will have to assess the situation.”
Sanchez’s future at the Emirates has been up in the air as a renewed contract is yet to appear on the table.
Comments from his agent emerged on Wednesday which suggested that contract talks were 'positive'.
But Wenger revealed this morning that Arsenal could be forced to cash in Sanchez and Mesut Ozil in January if there is no sign of a breakthrough.
Sanchez and Ozil’s deals expire in the summer, meaning they could leave Arsenal for free at the end of the season.

However, Wenger still remains hopeful that the pair would reaffirm their commitment to the club by signing deals which would double their salary.
The Premier League kicks off again on Saturday with the Gunners travelling to Vicarage Road for a clash against Marco Silva’s Hornets.
Watford are just a point behind the Gunners and have only lost to Manchester City so far this season.
