Arsene Wenger backs Usain Bolt over Arsenal speedster Hector Bellerin in possible sprint race

Hector Bellerin may be the quickest player at Arsenal but Arsene Wenger isn’t backing his man in a race against Usain Bolt.

The 21-year-old full-back, who broke Theo Walcott’s 40m Arsenal sprint record last year with a time of 4.42 seconds, joked earlier this week that he was “waiting for that phone-call from Jamaica” ahead of a possible race with Bolt.

Bolt, the three-time Olympic champion at 100m, 200m and 4x100m, holds the world record in each of the three disciplines and Wenger believes even his Spanish speedster could not catch “Lightning Bolt”.

“Well that is a bit ambitious,” Wenger joked when he was told of Bellerin’s desire for a race with Bolt.

“Usain Bolt loves football but I think he’s still too quick for Hector.”

However Bellerin might beg to disagree – during Bolt’s world record 9.58 100m run at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin the Jamaican sprinter clocked 4.64 seconds over the first 40m, 0.12 seconds slower than the Spaniard’s best.
