Betfair have slashed the odds on Gareth Bale moving to Manchester United as the Welshman continues to struggle in his second season at Real Madrid.

Bale scored 22 goals in his first season at the Bernabeu, including winners in both the Copa del Rey and Champions League finals, but has been made a scapegoat for Real's recent poor form.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a summer move away from La Liga and a recent poll run by Spain's leading newspaper AS found nearly seven in 10 Los Blancos fans want Bale out.

Bale is as short as 11/8 to leave Real in the summer and a flurry of bets on Wednesday saw odds on Bale moving to Old Trafford at the end of the season plummet.

Football Trader for Betfair, Michael Bowers commented “Bale has been backed to 6/4 to go to United after seeing considerable support for him over the course of the day. He will be hot property in the Premier League despite a relatively poor run of form for Real, and could well be exactly what Louis Van Gaal needs in his armoury with Falcao looking likely to leave at the end of the season.”
