Carl Jenkinson is hoping to impress England manager Roy Hodgson when he lines up for the Under-21s against France and Portugal.

The West Ham defender, on loan from Arsenal, has played a key role in the Hammers’ excellent run of form and is now looking to transfer his club form to the international stage.

Gareth Southgate’s team, who have qualified for next summer’s European Championship, face Portugal tomorrow night and France on Monday.

“I know I’ve got the ability to do it, I’ve just got to express myself and hopefully catch Roy Hodgson’s eye,” said Jenkinson. “I’ve had a good run at West Ham so I know I’m getting there, all I’ve got to do is work hard and hopefully that call-up will come.”
