League Two club Carlisle United have confirmed there will be no mandatory Covid certification at Brunton Park.

Under the new “Plan B” restrictions, outdoor venues with a capacity of 10,000 people or more will require either a Covid vaccination passport or a negative lateral flow test upon entry in an effort to battle against the new Omicron variant.

Carlise, however, have reduced their total capacity from 17,949 to 9,999, meaning there will no need for a mandatory Covid certification.

“There will be no requirement to show vaccination status or a recent negative test to enter the stadium and come to games,” read a statement on the club’s official website.

The club did also reaffirm their commitment to playing a part in stopping the spread of the virus where possible.

“Whilst we will not be introducing mandatory Covid certification at this time, it is critical all our fans continue to play their part in minimising the risk our games pose to fellow fans and the wider community. We remain fully committed to this.”

Carlisle are due to play Bradford City at home on Saturday December 18 before hosting Rochdale on Boxing Day.
